Using Tools

Generate content with AI-powered tools

Tools are Mentra's core feature — AI-powered generators that create lesson plans, rubrics, exit tickets, SEL activities, and dozens of other educational materials in seconds.

Finding a Tool

There are two ways to find the right tool:

  1. Browse by category — Use the category tabs on the dashboard (K-12, Higher Education, Inclusive Education Support).
  2. Search — Type a keyword like "rubric" or "exit ticket" into the search bar at the top of the page. Results appear instantly.

Running a Tool

Every tool follows the same basic flow:

  1. Open the tool — Click any tool card from the dashboard.
  2. Fill in the form — Each tool has a configuration panel on the left. Fields vary by tool but typically include grade level, subject, topic, and tone.
  3. Generate — Click the Generate button. The AI will produce content in the output panel on the right, usually within a few seconds.
  4. Review and refine — Read through the output. If you want a different result, adjust the form fields and generate again.
  5. Copy or export — Use the Copy button to grab the text, or export directly to Google Docs / Google Slides where supported.
Tip: Use the Session History feature (available on most tools) to flip back through previous outputs from the same session without losing your work.

Understanding Credits

Each generation uses one credit. Your credit balance is shown in the top bar.

  • Free plan — Limited credits per month.
  • Individual plan — Significantly more credits for daily use.
  • Enterprise plan — Unlimited generations for power users and school teams.
  • Admin / Beta tester accounts — Unlimited credits.

Credits reset at the start of each billing period. You can also purchase credit top-ups from the upgrade page if you need more before your reset date.

Saving and Sharing Output

  • All output is auto-saved to Output History.
  • Click Copy to copy the full output to your clipboard.
  • Some tools support direct export to Google Docs or Google Slides — look for the export button in the output panel.
  • Use the Share link (where available) to send a read-only view of your output to a colleague.
