Using AI Agents

Chat with subject-specific AI assistants

AI Agents are conversational assistants you can have a back-and-forth dialogue with — great for brainstorming, planning, or getting personalised help on a specific topic.

What Are AI Agents?

Unlike the one-shot Tools, Agents remember the context of your conversation throughout a session. This makes them ideal for:

  • Brainstorming ideas iteratively ("Give me 5 ideas… now make them more hands-on… now adapt for 4th grade…")
  • Getting feedback on content you've already written.
  • Planning out a unit or project over several back-and-forth turns.
  • Asking open-ended questions about pedagogy, curriculum, or classroom management.

Accessing AI Agents

Click AI Agents (or AI Tutors for student accounts) in the sidebar. You'll land on the chat interface.

  1. Select an agent from the left panel — agents are specialised by subject, grade level, or task type.
  2. Type your message in the input box at the bottom and press Enter or click Send.
  3. Continue the conversation as naturally as you would with a colleague.
Tip: Start a new thread for each separate topic so your conversation history stays organised and the agent doesn't get confused by context from an earlier topic.

Tips for Great Agent Conversations

  • Be specific — "Help me plan a 5-day unit on photosynthesis for 7th grade" gets a much better response than "help me with science."
  • Share context — Tell the agent about your students' level, any constraints, or the standard you're targeting.
  • Iterate — If the first response isn't quite right, tell the agent what to change rather than starting over.
  • Ask follow-ups — "Can you give me an assessment idea to go with that?" or "How would I differentiate this for ELL students?"

Thread Management

  • All your past threads are listed in the left panel of the Agents page.
  • Click any thread to pick up the conversation where you left off.
  • Use the New Chat button to start a fresh thread at any time.
